10 Things To Do When You Miss Disneyland

Recently I've really had the Disney itch. I always have it to some degree, but then I'll hit a phase (usually after watching too many Mad Hatter videos on YouTube) and *BAM* all I can do is eat, sleep, and dream Disney. Right now is one of those times.

Five plus years is too long between trips to The Happiest Place on Earth, so coming up with a way to get my Disney fix at home required. That's when I was inspired to create a list of things do when you're missing Disneyland. So without further adeu I present:
10 Things To Do When You Miss Disneyland | Ribbons Down My Back

1. Listen to music from the parks
Every few years they release a new album with music from the parks. You can find the latest Disneyland one here.

2. Read trip reports on the DISboards
My very favorite thing to do when I'm missing the parks is read trip reports that others have written. Here is the section for the Disneyland ones.

3. Look through photos from past trips
I have photos in a photo album, scrapbooks, on a personal blog, and on my computer. Looking at those is always fun. If you take video on your trips, that is fun to watch as well.

4. Visit the Disney Store
The best store at the mall, hands down. Browsing online is fun as well.

5. Make Mickey head pancakes

6. Listen to the Fantasmic soundtrack

This one makes me feel happy and nostalgic. So does Wishes Do Come True.

7. Plan imaginary trips on the Disneyland website

Because who wouldn't want to stay at the Grand Californian Hotel?!

8. Wear your ears around the house
Sometimes you just need a little extra Disney magic in your day.

9. Watch YouTube videos of the characters at the parks. Anything with Peter Pan or The Mad Hatter are my favorite; they're so funny! Here's a playlist with some of my favs: Disney Characters - Favorites.

10. Read the Disney Tourist Blog.Tom writes very detailed trip reports, has lots of different planning guides, and has amazing photos from the parks.

What's your favorite thing to do when you're wishing you were at Disneyland or Disney World?

  1. Oh, my goodness! I LOVED this post! I have been having major Disneyland withdrawals. My friends and family keep mentioning Disneyland - especially the fact that I won't be going there for five years yet {*in Eleven's voice* is this how time normally goes? reeeeaaaally slowly. and in the right order? :D}. Ugh. I miss the parks so much. Thanks for posting, dear. Glad to know that I'm not the only one suffering from major Disney nostalgia.

    1. Aw, thanks from the comment, Grace! Glad you enjoyed it. It's nice knowing I have a Disneyland buddy who misses it as much as I do.

      Love the DW quote. ;)

  2. Ha, I loved this! I'm glad I'm not the only one who does stuff like this. We've been to Disney World twice, once in 2006 and again in 2009. So it's been nearly 5 years since our last visit, too, and I don't think we'll be able to make it back anytime soon. I stumbled across some pictures from our last trip on my computer the other day, and they made me so nostalgic for Disney World! And yesterday I entered a sweepstakes through Disney Movie Rewards for an awesome trip to WDW. So what if I probably have a one in a million chance of winning? A girl can dream. :)

    1. Nope, you're not the only one, that's for sure! I remember to talking about your trips to Disney World on your blog before. I've only been to Disneyland, but I'd love to visit Disney World. It would be so similar, but different. We usually go to DL every 3-4 years, but because of financial/job reasons we weren't able to go last year like we were planning. :( I'm always entering Disney Sweepstakes as well. I'll have to check out the DMR one. :D

  3. Make some food that reminds me of my times there. ie frozen bananas, fresh flour tortillas(CA park), candy apples, etc.

    1. Good one! My dad loves getting a chocolate covered banana at the parks.

  4. Awww, this was cute, Serenia! I just got to visit Disneyland again for the second time this past October. Its truly a magical place! :)

    1. Thanks, Michaela. :D How fun that you got to visit again. I remember reading about it on your blog. :)

  5. Great post! I, too, plan fantasy vacations, only for me, it's Disney World. (What? A suite at the Grand Floridian? Yes, please!) I also listen to Disney parks music while I work (uabmagic.com has a great streaming radio station). My next goal is to learn how to make my own Dole Whips!

    1. Disney Would would totally be the place to plan fantasy vacations, given that it's so much bigger than Disneyland. I'm totally going to check out that website!

  6. My husband and I went to Disney World for our honeymoon and are going back for our 1 year :) We love disney and have been a lot. You can also order free planning dvd's that are so much fun to watch. Be blessed! BTW I was home schooled too :)

    1. How fun for you two! It's always nice to meet a fellow homeschool grad. :D

  7. Aw, I've never even been to Disneyland, but I enjoyed this unique post. :)

  8. Sereina,

Even for those of us who make it to the parks more often than every 5 years, Disney withdrawals are common.

    Thanks for the fun list.

I really love your Disneyland Pinterest boards.

BTW: Thanks for sharing the Disneyland Minimalist posters from my blog DisneyDose.com
