Last week a was my birthday, which means I'm now two decades old. It feels kinda odd (I totally just spelled Ood there at first. Hehe!) to actually be 20. I guess I thought I would "feel" older when I reached this age. Not that I mind at all. I like having a birthday cake full of candles. ;)
Anyways, for my birthday I got to celebrate on two days. First on my birthday which was pretty laid back. I made brownies, watched Gomer Pyle, USMC (Shazam!), and opened gifts after dinner. On Saturday to celebrate we all went shopping/browsing at some of my favorite stores. Since our closest library branch is pretty small, I wanted to go to a larger branch. It was huge in comparison! It was really fun browsing there and picking up a few books. We also stopped at Half Price Books, my favorite bookstore, along with Trader Joe's and Barnes & Noble.
My birthday money from grandparents was spent at Barnes & Noble. All of the B&N editions of the classics are so beautiful and this copy of Peter Pan caught my eye as we walked in. Even though I haven't read the book, I've been planing on doing that anyways and that beautiful hardcover edition was too hard to resist!
Since I'd been using the same young woman's Bible since I was about 13, so I decided it was time to get a more grown up one. I found a nice brown one that lays flat when it opens that I really like.
Then I also got Growing Up Duggar, a book by the four oldest girls that was just released last week. 19 Kids and Counting is one of my favorite shows, so I can't wait to read this one. I really like the girls taste in style. It's always really cute and practical.

Fish tacos and mexican rice we eatten for dinner. Then it was on to gluten-free, dairy-free, naturally sweetened chocolate cake. That stuff is the best.
I know what you mean about feeling older. I'll be 23 next month, and I thought by the time I was this age, I would have everything together and just feel so grown-up and mature. Ha...yeah right. :) That edition of Peter Pan is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYup, that's exactly how I feel. Glad to know I'm not alone!
DeleteHonestly, I don't feel any different (yet - that'll come!) when I turn a year older. It's just another year, another number and I'm older than you, girl. ;) I'm not sure if I thought I'd be established in any particular phase of life at this point though one MAJOR goal I do want to set for myself is just to finish one of my WIP's.
ReplyDeleteYour birthday looks like it was lovely. Great photos and... happy 20th! Enjoy. :)
Yeah, I didn't mean that I necessary feel older on my birthday, but that by the time I reached 20 I would feel more grown-up that I actually do. :) I know, I know I'm not that old. ;) But each decade is another milestone in my opinion. Plus it makes me feel really nostalgic (hence the "I'm feeling old"). :P
DeleteThank you, Rissi!
Happy Birthday! Haha, I also watch Gomer Pyle too. It's such a funny show! I read Peter Pan recently-I really enjoyed it, hopefully you will too! :) The edition you found is really neat looking!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Natalie!
DeleteIsn't it pretty! Glad that you liked Peter Pan. I'm sure I'll enjoy it. :)
Happy Birthday, Sereina!! :D 20 is exciting and kind of an in between year - not really an "official" adult, but not a teenager anymore. :) I'm having a milestone birthday next week. It doesn't seem possible that I'm actually turning 25!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Natasha!
DeleteVery true! 25, how exciting! I always forget you're more that a year or two older than me. You've always seemed younger, and I mean that in a good way. :D
